Philip Lynott

On the weekend of the 19th and 20th August Dizzy Lizzy made a special trip to Dublin for the unveiling of Philip Lynott's Statue just off Grafton Street.

We all travelled on the Friday from Birmingham and landed in Dublin at about 9.00am. Sie went off to meet up with friends/partners in crime/fellow supporters at the legendary North Star hotel, while the rest of us made our way to the luxurious Camden Court hotel. After a quick look around Dublin and making use of the hotel's excellent gym, pool, jacuzzi facilities, we made our way to Harry Street for about 6.00pm. By this time the large crowds had gathered for the unveiling of the statue, swelling Harry Street and Grafton Street.
The kind people from McDaid's let us upstairs were we watched over the proceedings from their first floor window. You should be able to make out the following people in the crowd; Brian Robertson, Gary Moore, Jonathon Noyce, Darren Wharton, Eric Bell, Scott Gorham and Brian Downey, with Philomena at the Statue itself.
Philomena unvelied the statue to great applause. After all the photos, the Thin Lizzy members retired to Bruxelles while we all had a few drinks in McDaids and continued to while away the evening chatting to all sorts of great people that had come from all over the word to this special event. Tim's night was made when he spotted Neil Murray and had a quick chat with him.

Afterwards, we made our way to Pacino's restaurant for some nice Italian food. Following on we made our way to the Friday night party at ..... where Thin Az Lizzy were playing. We managed to meet up with Philomena here.

Thin Az Lizzy were great and played a good set. John Earle made a special appearance on Saxaphone for 'Dancing In The Moonlight' and 'Baby Drives Me Crazy'. H got up with Philomena and Jason to join in on 'Whisky In The Jar'.
We then made our way back over the Liffey and stopped off at the statue again to still see people gathered around.

On Saturday we all had a nice breakfast at the hotel andthen made use of their pool and jacuzzi again. Pictures of us in swimming hats all seem to have mysteriously disappeared!!
We then made our way out for a quick look around Dublin, once again going to the Statue. Sie &Topps headed up to Sutton, spending the afternoon at St Fintans & White Horses, 'remembering'.... Meanwhile, back in Dublin, we met up with Crazy Nick from Italy, and we all went for a meal in Pacinos again.

The Gig

The Saurday night saw Gary Moore headlining a show, ''The Boy Is Back In Town'. He kicked off with 'Walking By Myself'. He was backed by Brian Downey on drums and Jethro Tull's Jonathan Noyce on Bass throughout. He followed with Jailbreak and Don't Believe A Word. He was then joined by Brian Robertson or Emerald and Still In Love With You. Scott Gotham then came out to play on Black Rose, Cowboy Song and The Boys Are Back In Town. Eric Bell then joined Gary for Whiskey In The Jar. Gary then finished the show with Parisienne Walkways (throwing in a bit of Old Town and Happy Birthday).
